Revolver USA and Midheaven are now shipping the CD and LP reissue of Sonic Youth's 1985 album Bad Moon Rising.
The vinyl includes a download card with four extra tracks:
Satan Is Boring
Flower
Halloween
Echo Canyon
These bonus songs are included on the CD, as well.
Pitchfork seems rather enthused about this release, as are, obviously, we.
Coming up in mid-July - the SY reissue series continues with Evol on CD and LP.

Our Labels' Bands Are Popular and Get Written About A Lot
Many of you stay apprised of Revolver USA/Midheaven-associated things via various social media (see those links over there on the right margin, just beneath the big "M|C" logo?).
And that's good.
For those of you with healthy, normal attention spans, though, here's a digest of things posted lately on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Pitchfork, and many other very important and relevant places:
Wand (In The Red) gets a 7.0 on Pitchfork
Akamtombo (Hand-Held) reviewed on The Quietus
The New York Times wrote about Sannhet (Flenser)!
Sonic Youth's Bad Moon Rising (Goofin') is again a thing

Listen To Sonic Youth Live In '85.
Aye, the vintage year of 1985. Rock In Rio was the biggest festival in the world, USA For Africa was in full swing, Phil Collins released No Jacket Required, and Sonic Youth were touring the States behind the Bad Moon Rising album. Some of us were there, most of us weren't. Luckily the audio from one of these seminal mindblowing shows was captured on 4-track cassette and will soon be available for the masses.
Smart Bar Chicago 1985 CD, double LP or MP3 Download will be available on November 13th via Sonic Youth's own Goofin’ label. Pre-order HERE.

A Celebration Of Everything Sonic Youth.
ANDRE SIDER AF SONIC YOUTH
SONIC YOUTH ETC.: SENSATIONAL FIX: OPENING JUNE 17
An opening event to celebrate the museum exhibition SONIC YOUTH ETC. will be held at LiFE, St. Nazaire, France on June 17 at 8pm. The exhibition focuses on the multidisciplinary activities of Sonic Youth since the band's formation in 1981. It features the band's collaborations with visual artists, filmmakers, designers and musicians, as well as a choice of other works selected by the band. Through the multidisciplinary output of Sonic Youth and related works by other artists in the exhibition, an alternative history of contemporary culture is being uncovered in which the division between 'high art' and 'low art' is being called into question, while issues are explored such as teenage rebellion, adolescent wanderlust, gender, fame, fashion, sexuality, and religion. The exhibition is initiated and curated by freelance curator Roland Groenenboom in collaboration with the band and will be presented at LiFE, (from 17 June to 7 September 2008), MUSEION , Bolzano, Italy (from 10 October 2008 to 4 January 2009), and Kunsthalle Dusseldorf, Germany (31 January to 26 April 2009). Further venues are currently in discussion, in Europe, the US and Asia. A complete description of the show can be found here.
Upcoming SY live dates:
07/04 New York, NY @ Battery Park (Free Show)
08/04 Leucate (next to Perpignan), FR @ Les Mediterraneennes Festival
08/05 Lokeren, BEL @ Lokerse Feesten
08/07 Oslo, NOR @ Oya Festival
08/08 Goteborg, SWE @ Way Out West Festival
08/09 St. Nazaire, FR @ Les Escales Festival
